24th Annual Great Lakes Boating Festival- Open to the Public, Admission is Free!

Grosse Pointe Yacht Club Hosts 24th Annual Great Lakes Boating Festival and You’re Invited!
Grosse Pointe Shores, MI, April 16, 2012…2012 marks the 24th year of the Great Lakes Boating Festival. This year’s event will take place from Friday, May 18 through Sunday, May 20. The weekend’s activities kick off on Friday evening with the Summer Breeze Party which is a fundraiser to support youth sailing in our community. The Festival will feature over 40 new power and sail boats up to 65 feet, a vintage boat display, as well as PWCs and jet boats, which will be docked in the harbor. Marine products and services will be displayed on the clubhouse grounds. The Festival is open to the public and admission is free. The Festival will include activities for the whole family. There will be children’s attractions as well as a wine tasting on Sunday afternoon from 2:30-5 p.m. The tasting will include an interesting selection of French wines as well as fine artisan cheeses. The Eleanor and Edsel Ford House will present a display of vintage automobiles. There will be a motorcycle display and there will also be an exhibit from the Dossin Great Lakes Museum. Food and beverage service will be available at the Festival. There will be a raffle for a chance to win a Rolex watch provided by Edmund t. AHEE Jewelers and a Boston Whaler boat and trailer provided by Colony Marine and Ray Laethem. The raffle drawing will be at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
