American Coney Island in DetroitAmerican Coney Island is the place to get authentic coney dogs in Detroit. One of the first coney island restaurants to open in the city and it offers great american food. It's often debated if this was the first coney restaurant in the city, but we will save that argument for another day :)This coney island place is located in downtown Detroit not far from places like Campus Martius Park so it should be a short walk from wherever you're staying in the downtown area. The american food here is absolutely amazing and the menu not only has coney dogs and fries but a wide range of other food items inculuding salads and burgers. Of course you can order other things if you want to, but you have to try the coney dogs at least once when you come here or else your trip will have been in vain. The prices are not bad either and you can easily get a full meal for a great price. I remember going here for the first time. I had my camera with me after taking some pictures and I was STARVING. I just happened to be walking down Michigan Avenue and walked by and then it hit me! I've been in Detroit all these years and with the many coney islands I have been to, I had yet to go to American Coney Island. I figured now was as good a time as any and I ordered a coney do and some chili fries. It was absolutely delicious and instantly became a favorite american and overall restaurant of mine.
