Chene Park Detroit
I think what makes this place unique is that even though it's covered, it's still basically an open air facility. So on those warm nights, you can perhaps feel a breeze off the Detroit River. The stage for the performers is also right in front of the Detroit River so you do get a great view as well. One thing that does annoy me is that the seats are metal and are not cushioned. I can usually tolerate it because I can be focused on the show, but again, it can be annoying at times. Outside the theatre, the actual park is really a great open space area with a shallow pond and a fountain as well as paths that go around the pond. You can also walk right up to the Detroit River and also get some great views Also besides concerts, many high schools in the area have their graduations at the park so that tells you how nice of an area it is. During the winter, there are no concerts that go on for obvious reasons (too cold) but there's no stopping you from still coming down and taking a quick stroll through the park. Just as Belle Isle Detroit has good views of the river, so does the park at Chene. Chene Park is also not far from downtown Detroit and Campus Martius. It's also just minutes from the Detroit River Walk so that puts it in a great location. Location: Return to Detroit Travel Guide Homepage
