The Many Wonderful Detroit Museums

The Detroit Institute of Arts.Want to experience some culture in Detroit? Detroit Museums are one of the best ways to do this. The number of museums in the area are by no means small , it would definitely take you days to truly experience and enjoy them all while in the process learning many great about Detroit as well as other things. In the Detroit museums, you will find some of the most stunning and diverse museums in the country. Many people who travel into the city are truly surprised when they come because they were not aware that Detroit had this many museums on such a high calibur. The toughest thing to do will be finding which Detroit museums to go to. If you're in town for just a short stay, say two or three days, you may be only able to get to one or two especially since there will probably be more things you will want to see in the city. I would recommend starting in the downtown Detroit area and moving outwards as the cultural district has many museums all clustered in one area which makes it very easy to go to two or more in a day. Here are the following museums in the area for you to check out:
  • Detroit Historical Museum This is a well known attraction and museum in Detroit. It's popular with kids and adults. There's so much to explore here.

  • The Detroit Institute of Arts The is one of the more well known art museums in the country. Many people aren't even aware that an art museum of this calibur is in Detroit.

  • The Charles Wright Museum of African American History One of the well known African American museums in the country. Many great exhibits for people of all races to enjoy.

  • The Detroit Science Center One of my favorite Detroit attractions is the Detroit Science Center. It is especially popular with the kids. If you have kids with you, this should be one of the places you should go. Not only will the kids have fun, I'm sure you will as well. It also sports and IMAX theatre so check which movies are playing as well.

  • Hitsville USA Hitsville is a well known attraction in Detroit. It has all the history of the great musical era when Motown Records dominated the charts.

  • Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum I truly LOVE this place. Being here really makes you feel like you've travelled back in time. It's an actual village which takes you through many time periods in American History

  • The Detroit Public Library Here you can find many events and activities going on for both adults and kids. A great place to check out.
