The Detroit Opera House
If you're looking for a more traditional form of theatre, the Detroit Opera House is the way to go. The Michigan Opera Theatre Company puts on many productions here during the year as well as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Along with other historical theatrical venues such as the Fox Theatre and the Music Hall, the Detroit Opera House is located right in downtown Detroit (great access to the Detroit People Mover as well).

It has never looked better since it's restoration is 1996 (it's been around since 1922), and has been a popular place for those who love the classical music genre and even people who are looking to broaden their horizons in music and theatre. Now I personally don't like classical music, but I can say without a doubt, that the Opera House gets lots of business and ticket sales and is one of the more popular entertainment options for people in the city. In the past it housed performances by many greats like Duke Ellington, and continues to this day to deliver on its great performances. Check out the official site here for ticket and performance info.
