My favorite restaurants in the D

You may have restaurants in your hotel that you are staying in, but you may have eaten there already and plus there is too much variety in terms of food in the city that you will miss out on. I've been here for years and I can tell you all the best Detroit restaurants for you to satisfy your hunger. From places in Greektown to other areas of downtown, these restaurants rank high in my book because of the quality of food, the service, and the overall experience. So how do I pick which restaurants make it into my guide? Check out my restaurant guide to find out. I think a guide is definitely necessary for people in town for a visit because they are new and to me, looking at a broad restaurant guide online doesn't give a personal feel. It's basically just a restaurant directory. I'm here to give you info ahead of time so you can get a feel of what to expect when you hear about these places or are looking for a nice restaurant to eat at.

• American Coney Island
- Some say it's the best place to get a coney dog in the area. If you are in town, you must check this place out.


• Astoria Pastry Shop
- An excellent pastry shop in the heart of Greektown. They have over 100 pastry deserts for you to chose from. Yummy indeed :)


• Detroit Beer Company
- A great place to get a meal and many varieties of beer. Close to Comerica Park and Ford Field.


• Fishbones Greektown
- One of the city's premier seafood places since 1989. One of my absolute favorite Detroit restaurants Great food, great entertainment and located in the heart of Greektown . You don't want to pass this place up.


• Hard Rock Cafe
- A great addition to the downtown area. Located right next to Comerica Park.


• Hockeytown Cafe
The Hockeytown Cafe is one of the most popular places to get a bite to eat before a big game. Great food and great atmosphere.


• Jacoby's
- One of the city's oldest and well known German restaurants. Located in the downtown area, you've gotta stop by and check it out.


• Lucky Dragon Cafe
- A nice little chinese food spot near downtown and Chene Park. It's a hidden gem in my opinion. If you're in the mood for chinese, try this place.


• Milano Bakery
- A nice bakery that is very popular among people in the city. Deserts, pizza, and deli sandwiches are here for your tasting.


• Mosaic Restaurant
- This restaurant has been a great addition to the Greektown District and has become a favorite of many Detroiters.


• Pegasus Taverna
- Pegasus offers some of the best Greek food around.


• Southern Fires
- A great soul food restaurant. Good atmosphere and it's in a unique location.


• Slow's Barbeque
- One of the best barbeque restaurants in city....if not the best if you ask many people who frequent the place.


• Taqueria Mi Pueblo
- If you've got that craving for some authentic mexican food, look no further than here. Check out the review by another fellow Detroiter.


• The Whitney
- One of the best upscale restaurants to dine at in the city.

But once again I'm just sharing with you my personal experiences (good ones) on places you should check out when you're hungry.
