Finding Detroit River FishingFinding Detroit River Fishing is something many people like to do in the warmer months and even the cooler months at times. Sitting between Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair, the Detroit River (more like a straight) is pretty large and has many great spots along the river to fish. It's also a great way to relax. Some of the places you can go fishing along the river are Belle Isle, the River Walk, and other places downriver. Along the River Walk, the most popular places for fishing are in the areas close to Joe Louis Arena and Cobo Hall. Great locations here and even parking closeby (don't park on the street however...you can get a ticket). On Belle Isle, there are two large piers on both sides of the island. These are great places to fish, but there are also many places along the shores of Belle Isle where you can do some great fishing. It's really up to you and your preferences. I've been fishing a few times when I was younger at the piers on Belle Isle and the fun times I had back then, makes me want to try my hand at fishing again in the near future. Before you decide you want to try to fish, make sure you have a license. If you just want to fish for all types of fish, excluding trout and salmon, the license is $15. If you want to fish for all types, it's $28. You can buy the license online here. Once you're all geared up and ready to go, relax, have fun, and enjoy!
