Detroit River

The first trip I made on the waterway was in my friends boat, we departed Port Huron and traveled to Lake Erie. The reason was to look over the entire waterway in a casual mode because soon I will be traveling through the same water in a race boat attempting to 'set' a world record on the 'Lakes' by running from southern Lake Michigan to the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. We weren't too far down river when the fuel pump
gave out and even though it was still running, the boats engine wasn't able to gain any high rpm's so we had to go most of the distance at a moderate slow speed. We got downtown and it got dark by then, we were dropped off at Port Huron by my friends parents, and so they called us on the cell and we told them it wasn't running very fast and why and all of a sudden we looked back and the city lights we blocked out by a ship bearing down on us...........out of some sort of desperation, I went to the fuel line and started massaging the fuel primer bulb and the engine came to life and we got out of the way just in time and I stayed there until we got to the proposed recovery ramp and when we went by, we found out later that his brother told his dad "that can't possibly be them, they're going too fast". So when we went by and they thinking it couldn't possibly be us because of the fuel problem we phoned to them..........they just let us go by and didn't call us and we didn't find them until an hour later. The other story, I previously mentioned it...........we're going to attempt to'set' a record and your city will be roughly the half way point. Thank you.
