Some great Detroit Suburbs to check outWhile you're in town, be sure to check out some of the Detroit suburbs. You will most likely head out to some of them because that's where most of the good shopping is. There are places like Great Lakes Crossing, Somerset Mall, and games at the Palace at Auburn Hills. Most places are no more than 20 minutes to an hour away so going makes for some nice day trips. With the extensive freeway system around Detroit, it shouldn't be a problem getting to these places (unless in rush hour traffic...which CAN get pretty bad) Also there are a lot of skiing and hiking places a bit further out from Detroit at places like Pine Knob. You will find more chain restauratns out in the suburbs, but you can also find some good mom and pop shops/restaurants as well.
