Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan

Ford Field Detroit Michigan

Ford Field Detroit Mi is the home of the Detroit Lions. Find out ticket and seating info, as well as events going on at Ford Field in downtown Detroit.

I remember actually seeing the stadium being built from the ground up (as well as its neighbor Comerica Park) and it's also one of my favorite buildings in the city. Seating and Parking The seating is aweseom at Ford Field. I do wish that they added more seats, but it's still fine the way it is. The suites are awesome as well. If you are coming down for a Lions game or an event, parking will probably be the most diffcult. Most parking garages near the stadium charge like crazy ($20+) and finding anything cheaper is definitely a hard task to do.

Since Lions games are on Sundays, there is free parking at the meters, but you must get there early. I worked at Ford Field during Lions games for a little while, and I had to arrive early (8am). If you are willing to get up early and maybe tailgate for awhile or head to a reastaurant for some early breakfast, you will have a good chance at finding some parking at the meters on the streets and save a ton of money and time.

The Design

It is much different from the Lions previous home, the Pontiac Silverdome. For starters, it has gone away from the traditional dome covering like most modern stadiums nowadays. It also has one of the best entrances in the country in my opinion.

The huge atrium at the main entrance was a great design as it lets in natural sunlight although at times during day games, the sun can affect the players on the field.

The designers of Ford Field also used a mix of old and new. The old Hudson's warehouse which was next to the site, was merged together with the new stadium and houses the suites for Ford Field. The old warehouse was also converted into the place where many shops and restaurants are located.

This was just a great idea and it saved a little bit of money as well. Ford Field was also where the 2006 Superbowl was hosted. This was great for the city and it shows how the city is continuing to make a turnaround for the positive.

The stadium is also set to host next years NCAA Final Four so you can see how much of a great place this is to have sporting events. Even the high schools and Little League teams have there. Many performers also use Ford Field for their concerts.

Ford Field is located in the downtown Detroit area next door to Comerica Park and right across from the Go ahead and definitely take some time to walk around the stadium if you get a chance. Take some pictures from the inside and outside. It truly is a beautiful facility. For more on the Detroit Lions schedule and other events going on at Ford Field, check out the official website here. Come on out to a game. Hey, you may even be able to help the Lions win a game!!! (I'm a diehard Lions fan, but its hard lol)

Check out Ford Field's official website for seating chart info as well. It's good to know where you'll be sitting if you bought tickets.
