Greektown DetroitA lively entertainment district in Detroit Greektown Detroit offers a vibrant nightlife with many restaurants and great hotels. You can find entertainment with the new casino, festivals, and even lofts if you wan to live there.
It has vibrant entertainment and nightlife and it's a top three place to go even if you're a resident of the city as many people i know and myself as well go very often for the good food at the restaurants and even some festivals every now and then.
The Greektown area is right in the heart of the downtown area and is filled with restaurants, and even a casino if you're the gambling type. Also the Atheneum Hotel is located here (one of the city's most popular hotels to stay in) On those warm summer nights on the weekend, you can find many people walking the streets of Greektown enjoying the music and even artists that line the streets waiting to draw a quick portrait of you. Be advised though on the weekends that it gets VERY crowded in terms of driving through the district, so especially during the summer when it's warm, I would recommend you park somewhere nearby and then walk to your destination. There is plenty of parking to be found nearby.
Even during the winter, walking is advisable although you better make it quick!!
Also a map is not really needed as the main area is only about 2 blocks long.
Restaurants As I said above there are many restaurants in Greektown. Of course you will find many Greek restaurants. I don't think you can try them all in one day so depending on your stay in town, go to at least one, seeing as there are many other great restaurants in the D for you to check out. Casino If you're the gambling type, Greektown Casino is right in the middle of the district as well.
It's one of the three casinos in the city, and it's the one closest to downtown so it's in close proximity to everything.
The new hotel addition has brought more business to the casino from all over the region. I'm not one to gamble often, but you may want to check it out as another activity to do. Find out more about the Greektown Casino.
