Joe Louis Arena in Detroit
Out of all the stadiums in downtown Detroit, the Joe is the one that has been down there the longest and with the Red Wings success over the past 15 years, its no wonder Detroit is also called Hockeytown. I love the Joe Louis Arena because it is right on the riverfront. Before or even after games, you can relax at the Detroit River Walk and enjoy the view before the Wings beat the other team into oblivion :) Because the Joe was built before the more modern facilities in the country, it doesn't have the huge seating like they do which can result in sellouts a lot of time. However it is still a great facility. Many times fans can still buy tickets but only for standing room. That just tells you how popular the Red Wings are in the city of Detroit. The People Mover makes stops close to the Joe, so if you want to park a little ways from the arena for events, this is a good option.
