The Palace Of Aburn Hills in Michigan

If you're looking for some pro basketball action, the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan is the place to go. Also simply called "The Palace" for short, it is the home of the Detroit Pistons, the Detroit Shock as well as many other events such as concerts, expos, and professional meetings.

Unlike the other pro sports teams that represent Detroit, the Palace is located about 30 minutes to the north of Detroit in the suburb of Auburn Hills. It's a straight shot up I-75 North.

Maybe one day the Pistons will move back to the city and complete the four stadiums in the downtown Detroit area.

The Palace was completed in 1988 and that may sound old compared to most of the newer arenas nowadays, but the Palace is pretty modern and it's a great place to enjoy a game (not to mention the Pistons are a pretty good team themselves...championship in 2009!! :)

Seating at the Palace

Seating at the Palace is fairly simple. There are basically to tiers , the lower level and the upper level with suites midway up between the two levels. Pricing of course goes up the further down you go and with the Pistons success in recent years (if you're coming to see a game) the lower level seats close to the court will not be cheap. However, if you just want to come and enjoy a game, sitting in the upper levels is not bad and you still get a pretty good view of the game. I've at courtside, and the upper levels and enjoyed myself both times.

Parking

I guess you could say one good thing about the Palace being in Auburn Hills is that is was built on open land which means the arena is surrounded by a huge parking lot. You might have to walk a little ways if you park the furthest away from the arena, but at least you will find parking unlike the downtown stadiums like Comerica Park where parking can be troublesome and expensive at times. For more info on pricing, seating, and events going on at the Palace, check out the official website here.
