Why YOU should visit the Motor City

It's a major city, but not so crowded as say NYC or Chicago, yet you can find great theatre, sports (YES!!), and some of the best food anywhere. I love the time Detroit is in right now because revitalization has been happening for the past ten years and people are slowly but surely finding out that Detroit is a great place to come visit and live. Here are some top reasons that you would want to chose Detroit for one of your travel destinations:

• Food - Yes you will find your typical McDonald's, Ben and Jerry's, etc., but the amount of independent restaurants is amazing. You can find everything from Italian to soul food. I actually think that that small amount of small chains right in the city is perfect.
• Culture - You will never find a more diverse area in the midwest. You can talk to people from all walks of life throughout the area. Not only that, but Detroit's cultural District boasts one of the best art museums in the country, the Detroit Institute of Arts, as well as other great Detroit museums.
• Sports - You don't even have to be a fan of the city's sports teams, all you have to do is come down and enjoy the atmosphere at a game at Ford Field or Comerica Park, both of which are great venues. Detroit has some of the best fans around.
• Architecture - Even if you're not into architecture, you can appreciate the unique Detroit skyline. Yes it has tall buildings like many other major cities, but you'll notice most of them don't look like they were built in the past 20 years. Detroit has some one of the best collections of Depression era skyscrapers in the country.
• Climate - Detroit's climate and weather is....ummm...very diverse ;)...Ok maybe the climate isn't as good as Miami in the winter, but you get to experience all four seasons which is what I call normal. It's hot in the summer which is perfect for going to the local beaches and yes it is cold in the winter, but that's just an excuse for you to take a romantic getaway with your SO and cuddle up ;)

My part is to tell you these things as well as the little things such as Happy's Ice Cream and Deli, which is a nice little shop where you can get some of the best ice cream in the city.

My job is not to be just a person who tells you a list of things to do, but to tell you what to go see and what to expect. Any travel site can give you a list of things to do, places to go, but how many actually have someone who has lived there tell you the little secrets and things that most people don't know about?
